Alan Hunter, founding TOPRA Board Member and a distinguished regulatory affairs practitioner assumed the Presidency of the organisation from Craig McCarthy. Symposium e-News 30 September 2008 Read the latest Symposium e-News TOPRA Special Interest Groups, June For the first time, this year the programme includes specific sessions from some of the TOPRA Special Interest Groups covering "e" technology, Biotechnology and Chemistry/Pharmacy (CMC). These sessions will look at the practical issues and the smaller meeting style will allow exceptional interaction between audience and speakers. Partnerships with other professional bodies, May TOPRA is delighted to have the support of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) for the CMC track and to welcome colleagues from HURAS (the Hungarian Regulatory Affairs association) onto the programme committee for the 2008 Symposium. TOPRA believes that partnerships with other professional bodies adds value to the members of both and ensures that topics of relevance and interest are covered by international experts in the field from a truly global perspective. TOPRA leads in Medical Technologies and Veterinary, April Once again, the TOPRA Symposium will feature two parallel symposia dedicated to the specific needs of regulatory affairs professionals in Medical Technologies and Veterinary regulatory affairs. This is the third year that TOPRA has held parallel symposia including speakers and representatives from the European Commission, EMEA and trade bodies. The Veterinary Symposium is entitled, 'Harmonising and Improving the Regulatory Framework', while the Medical Technologies meeting will asses, 'Are we ready for the Change' in the context of the Broader Symposia theme, 'Continuous Regulatory Challenge'. Partnership with the National Institute of Pharmacy, March TOPRA has announced that this year's Symposium will be in partnership with the National Institute of Pharmacy (OGYI ) in Hungary. Professor Tamas Paal is a member of the TOPRA Advisory Council and currently Director General of OGYI and will play an active role in shaping the programme content. Continuous Regulatory Evolution, January Continuous Regulatory Evolution is the title for the 2008 TOPRA Symposium, reflecting the changing environment in which industry and authority regulatory professionals are working in. This year’s Symposium Working party Chair, December TOPRA has announced that Patrizia Netsby Associate Director Regulatory Affairs ERA Consulting will serve as this year’s Symposium Working party Chair. Patrizia is a Dutch national who has recently moved to the UK. She will use her wealth of experience from across European Regulatory affairs practice and consultancy to help create a truly world-class programme for the 2008 event, building on her experience of being part of the team that organised the successful Symposia in Denmark, Holland and Germany. 5th TOPRA Annual Symposium, November The 5th TOPRA Annual Symposium will be in Budapest Hungary on 6th-8th October 2008. Building on the successes of the last 4 years, the two-day pharmaceutical programme will be complemented by separate one-day Symposia on Medical Technologies and Veterinary regulatory affairs: evidence to TOPRA's commitment to support these sectors. The programme will address a range of current regulatory issues and there will be a focus on how the newer member states are dealing with times of rapid regulatory change.
